Located 7 km north of Mâcon, near the A40 junction, exit 28 Mâcon Nord is a highly popular stopover for long-distance travellers: it offers 4 low-cost hotels right off the exit, each with its own car park, ideal for a quick overnight stay. The only drawback is that none of these 4 hotels has a restaurant.
This same exit also has a Novotel with a pool and a brasserie restaurant.
For more choice, consider, from this exit, booking your hotel in central Mâcon where there is a wide selection of hotels and restaurants, plus a pleasant town centre on the Saône riverbank. This adds very few kilometres to your journey.
Alternatively, stop at exit 27 Tournus, which is certainly more pleasant.

Why not make your stopover in Cluny?
Cluny is a medieval town with Romanesque and Gothic houses, as well as part of what was once a huge Benedictine abbey, a major centre of Christianity in the Middle Ages.
The monastic village, which is well worth a visit, will be a magical stop on your journey.

Coming from the North, leave the A6 motorway at Tournus and take it again at Mâcon Sud, you will only extend your journey by 15 km. Coming from the South, do the opposite.
